What happened in football today? 20/6/13

The transfer window really came to life today as Reuben Reid left Yeovil to join Plymouth, in a move described as “interesting” by nobody on earth.

In other news, Lionel Messi joined the ranks of Ken Dodd, Al Capone and Harry Redknapp’s dog in getting embroiled in tax evasion accusations.

If he’s found guilty, then there’ll be a whole host of tweets from @bbcbanter or other such accounts along the lines of: “it’ll be quite the prison football team” and then the customary picture of John Terry winning an Olympic Archery gold. Larks.

Gary Lineker took to twitter himself to say something about the fixture list. I don’t follow him, so I’ve no idea if what he said had any merit. It did at least distract from the real big transfer news: Nicky Hunt leaving Rotherham to join Accrington Stanley.

And finally, in the barely news category, Chelsea defender David Luiz is to have surgery on his nose. I hope this is actually a full face, witness protection style facial reconstruction and next season Luiz looks like Steve Ogrizovic.
